Evolution D5 Maverick 4 vs Maverick 4 Plus

The Evolution D5 Maverick 4 and Maverick 4 Plus share the same four-forward-seat concept and nearly the same basic dimensions, but the Plus version is the newer, more feature-rich configuration. The most important differences are speed programming, equipment package, and current-market positioning.

Both are four-passenger forward-facing carts

Unlike a 2+2 layout, Maverick 4 keeps all four passengers facing forward. That gives it a more car-like seating arrangement and avoids the rear overhang of a rear-facing bench.

Dimensions are very similar

Evolution’s published specifications list both the D5 Maverick 4 and Maverick 4 Plus at about 118.1 inches long, 55.8 inches wide, and 83.1 inches high, with an 80.7-inch wheelbase. That means garage, trailer, and cover fitment is broadly similar between the two four-seat versions.

Current Plus speed is higher

Published D5 Maverick 4 specifications list a maximum speed around 19 mph, while the current Maverick 4 Plus page lists up to 25 mph. Exact delivered speed can still depend on dealer programming, model year, software, LSV configuration, and local rules.

Powertrain architecture stays familiar

Both use a 48V lithium system and 6.3 kW motor family with AC control and electromagnetic braking. The Plus upgrade is therefore not a completely different drivetrain. It is better understood as a newer feature/performance package on the same D5 concept.

Plus adds newer convenience features

Current Maverick 4 Plus marketing highlights upgraded infotainment, powered side mirrors, premium audio, upgraded seating details, improved storage, and an optional LSV package depending on dealer configuration. Feature availability can vary, so verify the actual cart rather than assuming every “Plus” has every option.

The rugged Maverick hardware remains

Both versions use the taller Maverick stance and off-road-style tire package. Current Maverick 4 Plus specifications list 23×10-14 tires, brush-guard styling, running-board treatment, and a taller body than Ranger.

Accessory fitment is close but not automatic

Shared dimensions do not make every accessory interchangeable. Powered mirrors, dash electronics, bumpers, sound systems, seat trim, wiring, and dealer-installed options can change between standard and Plus generations. Confirm model year and mounting details before ordering.

Our Ranger vs Maverick comparison explains the bigger platform difference, while the Evolution bumper fitment guide covers front-end accessories.

Which is the better used buy?

A standard Maverick 4 can be a strong value if the battery, charger, suspension, tires, brakes, and electronics are in good condition. A Maverick 4 Plus makes more sense if you specifically want the newer speed/performance package and upgraded factory features.

Check software and LSV status separately

Do not assume a 25-mph-capable Plus cart is automatically street legal. LSV compliance involves equipment, certification, VIN, local registration, and jurisdiction-specific rules. Speed alone does not determine legal road status.

Bottom line

Maverick 4 and Maverick 4 Plus share the same basic four-forward-seat D5 footprint. The Plus version is the newer, faster, more feature-heavy package. For buyers, condition and exact equipment matter more than the badge alone, especially when comparing used carts from different model years.

n

What to verify on a used Plus cart

Confirm the VIN or serial information, displayed speed, battery state of health, charger, touchscreen operation, cameras, powered mirrors, sound system, and all lighting. Feature-heavy carts can be more expensive to repair when dealer-installed electronics or accessories have been modified.

Do not compare MSRP without equipment

A standard Maverick 4 and a Plus model may be advertised with different dealer accessories, LSV packages, colors, enclosures, or audio upgrades. Compare the actual installed equipment and warranty coverage rather than assuming the entire price difference comes from the Plus badge.

n

Battery and charger checks still come first

Both standard and Plus versions depend on a healthy lithium pack and compatible onboard charging system. Before paying a premium for newer features, review battery age, charging behavior, warning messages, service history, and remaining warranty. A feature-rich cart with a weak or poorly documented battery can be a worse buy than a simpler standard model in excellent condition.

Plus trim changes more than the badge

Current D5 Plus models add a newer equipment package around the core D5 platform, including updated infotainment and convenience features. A used Maverick 4 and a Maverick 4 Plus may therefore share the same basic four-forward-seat mission while differing in electronics, controls and factory equipment. When buying replacement dashboards, cameras, sound-system parts or trim, confirm the model year and Plus designation before ordering.
