Golf Cart Phone Mounts: Fitment and Mounting Guide

A golf cart phone mount looks simple, but a poor mounting location can block switches, shake excessively or put the phone where it distracts the driver. The best mount fits the cart’s available structure and keeps the screen secure without interfering with steering or visibility.

Common Mounting Locations

Phone holders can attach to a dash, steering-column area, roof strut, grab bar or cup holder. The strongest option is usually a rigid structure that does not flex. Avoid positions that interfere with the steering wheel, brake operation or entry and exit.

Clamp, Dash and Cup-Holder Mounts

Clamp mounts work well on round or square supports when the clamp range matches the tubing. Adhesive or screw-mounted dash holders can be cleaner but require a suitable surface. Cup-holder mounts are easy to move but may shake more on rough terrain.

Vibration and Retention

Off-road tires, lifted suspension and rough paths can transmit significant vibration. Use a mount with positive side or corner retention rather than relying only on light friction. Check that the phone cannot contact the windshield or dash when the cart flexes.

Charging the Phone

If the mount includes USB charging, confirm the power source is appropriate. Higher-voltage electric carts often need a regulated 12V or USB supply rather than a direct connection to the traction pack. See our 12V accessories guide for power-planning context.

Fitment Before Buying

  • Measure the bar or dash location
  • Check phone width with the case installed
  • Confirm screen and control clearance
  • Choose weather resistance for open carts
  • Make sure removal does not require tools if theft is a concern

Our dash accessories guide covers other ways to organize the driver area. Set the phone before moving and avoid interacting with it while driving.

Weather and Security

Open golf carts expose mounts to sun, rain and dust, so corrosion-resistant hardware and a weather-resistant phone holder are useful for year-round use. A quick-release mount can also make it easier to take the phone holder with you. Periodically tighten clamps because vibration can loosen hardware even when the mount felt secure at installation.
