EZGO RXV Models and Years Explained

The E-Z-GO RXV platform dates to 2008, when E-Z-GO introduced its IntelliBrake automatic parking-brake technology on the RXV. Since then, the RXV family has evolved through gas and electric powertrains, personal and fleet configurations, ELiTE lithium models, 2+2 variants, and newer two- and four-passenger versions. Model year matters because body, powertrain, braking and accessory fitment can change.

2008: the RXV platform begins

E-Z-GO identifies 2008 as the introduction year for IntelliBrake on the RXV platform. Early RXV models established a different chassis and drive-system approach from the older TXT, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they are similar in size.

RXV and TXT are separate platforms

TXT and RXV parts can look similar, but suspension, braking, drivetrain, body panels, dash components, electrical systems and accessory mounting can differ. Our EZGO TXT vs RXV comparison explains the main platform differences.

Gas RXV models

Gas RXV configurations have changed over time. Recent fleet specifications use E-Z-GO’s newer gas engine architecture, while earlier RXV models used different engines and related service parts. Always identify the exact year before ordering belts, clutches, filters, starter-generator components or fuel-system parts.

Electric RXV models

Electric RXV carts have also evolved. Depending on year and configuration, you may find conventional battery systems or later ELiTE lithium powertrains. Controllers, chargers, motors, brake systems and diagnostic procedures can differ substantially between generations.

ELiTE lithium RXV

E-Z-GO’s ELiTE lithium system uses Samsung SDI battery technology and appears across newer RXV configurations. Lithium changes battery maintenance, charger requirements, vehicle weight and electrical troubleshooting. Do not replace an ELiTE charger or battery component with a generic 48V part without confirming compatibility.

Freedom and personal-use RXV versions

Personal transportation versions may carry different standard equipment, speed programming, lighting, wheels or seating than fleet golf-course versions. A four-passenger conversion or factory four-passenger model also changes overall length and accessory fitment.

RXV 2+2 and four-passenger layouts

Some RXV versions use a rear-facing second-row seat, often described as a 2+2 layout. Newer RXV 4 models expand the factory four-passenger offering with updated styling, seating and technology packages. When buying a roof, enclosure or rear body accessory, confirm whether the cart is a two-passenger, 2+2 or newer four-passenger model.

2026 and newer RXV updates

The 2026 model-year RXV range received a significant refresh, with updated trim packages, seating and technology. E-Z-GO’s newer RXV 2 and RXV 4 lineups include multiple gas, 48V electric and ELiTE lithium configurations depending on trim. This newer body generation should be treated separately when checking cosmetic and accessory fitment.

How to identify your RXV year

Use the vehicle’s manufacturer label and serial/model information rather than body appearance alone. Used RXV carts are frequently customized with newer seats, wheels, lights, roofs and body panels. Record the full serial information before shopping for service parts.

Accessory fitment by year

Many accessories are marketed as “RXV 2008+,” but that does not mean every part fits every later body and seating configuration. Windshields, dashes, rear seats, enclosures, light kits and trim pieces are especially sensitive to body-generation changes.

Bottom line

The RXV has been in the E-Z-GO lineup since 2008, but it is not one unchanged cart. Identify the exact model year, powertrain and passenger configuration before ordering parts or comparing specifications. That is especially important for electric braking, lithium components and newer body-specific accessories.
