How to Remove Club Car Precedent Seats

Removing Club Car Precedent seats is usually straightforward once you know whether you are removing only the cushions or the complete seat hardware. The exact fasteners can vary with year, aftermarket upholstery, and rear-seat conversions, so inspect the mounting points before forcing any part.

Park and secure the cart first

Work on a level surface, set the parking brake, remove the key, and make sure the cart cannot move. If you will be working near battery cables or electrical accessories under the seat, follow the model’s power-disconnect procedure.

Front seat bottom

The front seat bottom on many Precedent carts lifts or releases from its retaining points to provide access to the battery or engine compartment. Lift evenly and avoid pulling on upholstery or accessory wiring that may have been added underneath.

Front backrest

The seat back is normally secured to brackets with model-specific hardware. Support the backrest before removing the final fasteners so it does not fall and damage the body or upholstery.

Watch for aftermarket accessories

Seat heaters, USB ports, speakers, occupancy switches, or custom lighting can add wiring that was not part of the original cart. Disconnect or label those circuits before fully removing the seat assembly.

Rear-seat conversions are different

If the cart has an aftermarket rear seat, the rear cushions may attach to a steel frame rather than factory body mounts. Follow the rear-seat manufacturer’s hardware layout and support the frame if removing structural brackets.

Inspect the cushions while they are off

Check the seat base, hinges, brackets, foam, vinyl, staples, and mounting hardware. Removal is a good time to repair torn upholstery, replace rusted hardware, or clean areas that are normally hidden.

Keep hardware organized

Separate bolts, washers, spacers, and brackets by location. Photograph the original mounting arrangement before disassembly, especially if several brackets look similar.

Reinstall carefully

Make sure the seat is fully retained, hardware is tightened correctly, and no wiring is pinched under the cushion or bracket. Check that the seat does not shift during normal entry and exit.

Bottom line

Remove Precedent seats methodically: secure the cart, identify the cushion and bracket mounting points, protect any accessory wiring, and keep the hardware organized. Avoid forcing a seat that still has hidden fasteners or aftermarket connections attached.
